History
This Swan Brand garment was almost certainly made between 1985 and 1992. This is the period when:
- Chongqing’s down‑garment factories were exporting heavily
- Labels used this exact bilingual format
- 70/30 down was the standard export fill ratio
“Swan Brand” (天鹅牌) was not a fashion label in the modern sense. It was the export trademark of a state‑owned textile manufacturer in Chongqing. Here’s the reconstructed lineage:
Chongqing No. 3 Garment Factory (重庆第三服装厂)
Founded in the 1950s . It specialized in cotton garments, uniforms, and later down jackets. It became an export‑qualified enterprise in the 1980s. Registered the “Swan Brand / 天鹅牌” trademark for overseas markets. This factory produced:
- Down jackets
- Down vests
- Wool/cashmere coats
- Workwear
The Swan Brand was created specifically for foreign buyers (U.S., Japan, Europe) during China’s early export boom. Produced during China’s “Reform and Opening” period. Factories shifted from domestic uniform production to export‑grade consumer goods. Down garments were a major export category from Sichuan/Chongqing.
The color of this item is not faded. It is a collectors item.
